My name is Mariel Geiger, and I come from the Philippines, where English is the second official language and the language of instruction in schools and universities. In 1995, I graduated from the University of the Philippines with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management.
After several professional ups and downs, I had my first professional opportunity in 2000 – as a young and promising School Director at one of the country's leading computer science high schools. After successfully establishing one of its startup campuses, I transitioned to working as a Product Trainer and Events Manager for an international network marketing company from 2004 to 2011. Here, I had the opportunity to move to Bangkok, Thailand for two and a half years and travel extensively throughout Southeast Asia, Africa, Australia, Europe, and the Middle East, working closely with people from diverse professional backgrounds and management levels. These experiences significantly shaped my professional development.
After six and a half years in Germany and Singapore with my family, we decided to return to Germany permanently at the end of 2017. Here, I decided to leverage my English skills and extensive professional experience by becoming CELTA-certified through Cambridge Assessment and started teaching and training in General and Business English at the München Volkshochschule (MVHS) and various corporate offices in and around Munich. While conducting these courses, I realized that the traditional method of language learning—directive and textbook-based—was not generating satisfactory learning outcomes for my participants. This was also true for me when I tried to learn German! "There must be a better and more efficient way." This thought and aspiration led me to the Neurolanguage Coaching® method.
Making A Difference
Since my certification as a Neurolanguage Coach® in 2021, my German has improved significantly despite the COVID-19 lockdowns, compared to the hundreds of hours I invested in all the standard language courses. Given this remarkable change in my own language learning journey, I focused on becoming a certified and accredited Advanced and Professional Neurolanguage Coach® to help non-English speakers achieve faster and more sustainable results in their language development.
And now that I am also a licensed Teacher Trainer, my goal is to bring the Neurolanguage Coaching® approach to many language educators in my home country, The Philippines, and around the world.
