The course English C1 Conversation, run by Mariel Geiger,

is a very beneficial one for me to improve my English skills.

Like me, most of the participants have taken this coursefor several semesters in a row. Knowing the background

of most participants helps tremendously to have very meaningful conversations.

Mariel is a very knowledgeable instructor and facilitator.

She knows how to simulate a discussion in case a topic has come to a dead end,

by asking the right questions and sharing her personal point of view.

Furthermore, she finds the right balance when correcting our mistakes.

She provides timely feedback, but does not hamper the flow of the discussion.

I also like the topics she chooses to get us started in the beginning.

However the main topic of the day is unpredictable most of the time,

since it is mostly driven by the mood of the most lively participants.

It is very beneficial that Mariel is not insisting

to stay on her topic but let the discussion go the way we want.

But she knows how to keep us on track and ensures

that everybody gets a fair share of talking time.

I enjoy this course very much.
